Version 1.1.5 Announcement

We are pleased to announce the second Zenphoto release of this month, version 1.1.5. This version brings a few major improvements and new features, as well as significantly improving the efficiency of Zenphoto. New features include Boolean expressions in searches, which allow you to do such things as “dogs | cats” and combine results for both, Dynamic Albums, which are a way to create an album out of a search phrase (or boolean combination of search terms), a long-requested feature for Multiple administrators with different rights or abilities.

With this release we’ve also achieved major performance improvements across the board (nearly 4x faster page load times for large albums, benchmark results coming soon), and improvements to the efficiency of the EXIF library and caching, resulting in snappier gallery browsing and an even faster Zenphoto than before.

Thanks to all who helped with this release, and everyone who tested the nightly builds and provided feedback.

As great as the improvements are, I really doubt that your page load times are negative 300% of what they used to be: t – 4t = -3t

If you mean it is 4X faster, then say that “performance” has *increased* 400% (although that is rather nebulous) or that load times have decreased 75%.

Fine fine Josh, I’ve reworded it to be clearer. Page load times are in fact four times faster than they previously were.

For details I’ll post a before-after benchmark graph soon, and some info on what exactly was changed.

I downloaded 1.1.5, and I uploaded everything from the package except the “albums” folder, the “cache” folder, and the “/themes/default” folder (because I modded it).

But when I’m in the admin panel, the bottom right corner still says 1.1.3
Did it work? What did I do wrong?

    Benjamin, you must run upgrade.php!

Sorry, but I don’t really understand what does it mean: “Boolean expressions in searches…”
Is it the same as keywords?
    thanks :)

“Boolean expressions in searches…” means for example “AND” and “OR” in searches. Similiar to the advanced functionality search engines like google provide.
