Probably the character set of your images is not properly discovered by Zenphoto. (Unfortunately, most software do not mark the character set in the IPTC data or do not mark it properly.)

So you will need to set the option in zenphoto for IPTC encoding to whatever is the correct value. Unfortunately, you will have to figure out what that value is. It might be Centeral European ISO, it might be UTF-8, or maybe something entirely different.

There is an option in search on how spaces should be treated in the search itself. If these individua tags are not three word strings you would have to make them that way as individual tags are, well, individual.

Hi,

I am new to ZenPhoto and I am just trying to figure out how it works. It is a great product, that I use as bundled within the offer of my hosting provider. I use zpArdoise as a theme.

Problem: When I upload my photos to my album, I lose all the accented characters in the labels (as they are called in IDimager), or tags (as they are called in ZenPhoto). I am from Central Europe and my tags originally have characters with accents and cedillas, that are perfectly visible in IDImager, using UTF-8 encoding. They are transformed into strings of 2-3 non-literal characters the moment they are uploaded on ZPhoto.

Is there any way to prevent this behaviour? I have set UTF-8 in ZenPhoto, but it does not work. I have tried all the variant of Central / Eastern European encodings in ICTP, but to no avail.

Problem 2: Once uploaded, the tags lose their capitals.

Problem 3: My original labels often consist of 2 or 3 words, and can be used for searches that way in IDImager. But in ZenPhoto they no longer work that way. It seems that I need to use _underscore_ to link 2-3 words in a phrase.

Is there any workaround these problems? A plugin maybe..?

Thanks,

Adrian

After deleting the ajaxfilemanager folder in my installation, following the guidelines in this thread, I searched all files under the zenphoto tree for the strings "lb11" and "eval(base64" and found no instances. I also found no tmp* files in the tree. In addition, the only objects bearing the date of the attack (11/15/2011) were the bogus class.base.php file and the inc folder under ajaxfilemanager. .htaccess also does not appear to have been modified. It would appear that I was spared the full assault that some have experienced.

Did anyone find evidence of damage beyond your zenphoto structure?

Hello. I just discovered my site hacked today. I have deleted the ajaxfilemanager but so far do not detect other modifications. Would someone who has experienced an attack please advise on specifically what evidence of modification I should be looking for both inside and external to the zenphoto installation? Thank you.

I am sorry, I cannot answer that as neither zenphoto.org nor one of the other zp powered sites I maintain were affected. I have not seen this myself.

As far as I remember from the forum posts the hacks affected files but primarily placed lots of htaccess redirection everywhere. The detailed infos have been provided by users on these topics. That is all we know. It does not hurt to check the database as well. Maybe your attack was less severe or a different one. One of the security posts has also a download of some extra info provided by a user.

As said the best is to re-upload all standard files and check your custom ones.

For the future best stay tuned by subscribing our RSS, google group or Twitter feed. Also current Zenphoto releases have plugin zenphoto-news that displays our latest news on the admin overview page.

My zenphoto installation was hacked on November 15, 2011, and only detected today. The detailed analysis document suggests that all .php and .js files on my server (virtual domain) may have been modified, along with .htaccess files. I have spot-checked, but so far have not found any issues beyond the bogus script created on that date. Also, the rest of my zenphoto files bear an April 2011 date.

When checking .php and .js files both within and external to the zenphoto installation, what specifically should I look for as an indication of a modification?

Your hack attack might be a little different and less severe than the November ones so please read on the forum topics to check.

Best is that you check all files or best either update or just reupload your version (if it is 1.4.1.5 or older I recommend to update to the current as 1.4.2.1 fixes further security issues) again to be sure no file has been hacked. Please reffer to the installation page how to upgrade.

Thank you, and sorry for the double-post. I have removed the ajaxfilemanager completely and have updated the two tiny_mce config files as advised.

I am not convinced that the exploit on my server involved anything beyond creating and then utilizing the bogus class.base.php script. I have not yet found evidence of .htaccess file manipulation or of modifications to other scripts (.php or .js). Can anyone point me to some specific files to check...files within the zenphoto installation for example?

It is a double post. We have an akismet filter and moderation in effect (as noted). In case that anything is wrong with that we need to know the error message.

That security issue has been widely documented since November 2011 and affects all version of 1.4.1.5 and older and happens together with too lax server permissions:
http://www.zenphoto.org/news/alert-security-hole-in-zenphoto-1.4.1.4

Please read those and also the linked forum posts as they provide detailed info from users (we were not affected ourselves).

Then best upgrade to the current release which is 1.4.2.1.

I indeed don't understand. Zenphoto will always use the filename as the title if you don't specific a title on the backend.

I am not sure if 3gp files have metadata and what and if our video class can read that at all at the moment. If you want the titles to appear on the theme that depends on the theme used.

On thumbs generally no titles are shown so you might need to modify the theme you are using. Info on theming on the related tutorial.

I have used the sitemap extension 1 week ago and everything went ok. Now I have cleared the sitemap cache, and try to build a new sitemap. But it does not work : the admin page remains blank (
/zp-core/zp-extensions/sitemap-extended/sitemap-extended-admin.php?generatesitemaps&number=1
), and no file appear in the cache/sitemap folder.
I have changed nothing but to add an album and some photos .
Does anyone has the same problem ?

At the moment, there are three items in the album, all of which have the generic thumbnails. Is it possible to have the filenames appear as titles beneath the thumbnails?

Well, I cannot answer, you would have to compare the files to find that out. The best is - and recommend especially for zp.core - to delete the folders first and the reupload fresh. That way you really have all the right files.

Setup will of course warn about wrong ones as well.

Sure it is the easy way but not really best practice and that is what we try to recommend..;) They were great 15 years ago. Except for the usability reasons you state there are:
- Bloated code (you need several pages for just one display!)
- Quite bad for search engines
- Not allowed in strict (X)HTML variants
- Not allowed at all in the - whenever - coming HTML5

Hi,

I have an album for .3gp video that come from some Android devices.

The videos play just fine with the Quick Time Alternative plugins installed, but the thumbnails do not have any filenames - only the extension. So, there are three thumbnails in the album, all called "3gp".

Is there something that I have missed in the admin about thumbnails and renaming/labelling?

I'm not sure, but I hope, this example is 'valid':

http://www.musikverein-zunsweier.de/galerie

- based on standard template
- adapted to the layout of the website
- omitting of many minor features (comments ...)
- single image displaying in Fancybox (http://www.zenphoto.org/support/topic.php?id=10327), zapping via mouse wheel
- link to every single image page in the description tag in Fancybox

OK, well it's obvious that I am overwriting everything.
The question is... I have 5 nearly the same galleries, light.css is changed in every of them. 4 out of 5 get overwritten and changed back to blue, one stays green (customized by me). Why?
No problems noticed, update goes through OK. Well... is it really OK?

That's right. Btw, it's the administrators table in your database.
Note that your tables might have a prefix so it will then be named [prefix]-administrators

Aha!
So I delete the whole folder "Administrator" (or how its called) in mySQL and then go again to www.mypage.de/zenphoto/zp-core/setup.php and will be able to set a new password there? Is that right?
Thank you so much!

About the only strange thing I can see is that you seem to have multiple "slide show" javascript codes on the pages and the pages are loading the jQuery code two or three times. Certainly that cannot be good. Specially since at least on load is from a different source than the Zenphoto version.
