.browser
is a variable, so it may be set as many times as one wants. Of course, the "last" one wins, but that should not be a problem if they all do the same thing.

Ok, guys. here you go: https://github.com/acrylian/imageswipe
A simple plugin that enables left/right swiping on the single image page of (at least) standard themes). I don't have any touch screen device. But using the mouse for simulation does work as on the demos of the jquery tool.

@tplowe56 :
don't worry, in any case, there will be a 1.4.5 release of zpArdoise and I will find a solution.
I found a solution to replace .live() and as acrylian I'm looking for a solution for .browser()

@acrylian :
I have a look on github and I have found very closed solution on the Net.
my question : what could append if .browser() is defined twice (in jcarroussel and zpardoise) ?
in other word, do you know Charybde and Scylla ;-) ?
I ask me if a solution is to disable jcaroussel if zpArdoise is used, to avoid this conflict.

jCarousel does not load the jquery migrate plugin anymore, instead we recreate the missing function: https://github.com/zenphoto/zenphoto/commit/467a672f3633b34b50dd64076fe509f85018466a

Maybe that can be re-used to fix galleriffic so the migrate plugin is not needed.

hi
If you don't use gallerfic option, google map link appears only on albums page (not on image page).
If you are using gallerfic, it's the same thing.
From the moment a photo of the album have GPS coordinates, the link appears, even if your are viewing an image with no GPS info.
but in google map, you only can see only pictures with gps coordinates.

1. Create a theme to make Zenphoto look like your site

Sorry, I don't agree completely. It is a theme decision and cannot be "core".

It is much more work to setup a theme to have the real swiping like this one:
http://eightmedia.github.io/hammer.js/examples/carousel.html
That real swiping is done via AJAX/Javascript loading which is an entirely different concept than normal themes.

So you will have to need to base the entire theme on JS only which is IMHO not a good way. Disable JS and nothing works anymore so you need a fallback ("progressive enhancement" is the keyword here).

It should be easiy to setup normal next page loading via swipe using stuff like this:
http://www.awwwards.com/touchswipe-a-jquery-plugin-for-touch-and-gesture-based-interaction.html
That should be possible to be done as a plugin. Maybe I give that a shot sometime when all the more important stuff is done.

I hate to be the party basher, but ZP really needs to consider touch & swipe as a core function. This is where users are headed. We may use PC's but many customers use tablets or smart phone. The inability to swipe through a gallery is a huge drawback.

Users of smartphones are accustomed to being able to swipe through images very quickly. When they hit a ZP gallery & lose that functionality it is a downgrade of user experience. Users will not tolerate for long & move on to image galleries that are quicker to navigate.

Offering this as a core function will put ZP in 1st class, above galleries that don't offer a fast GUI on smartphone.

I've just discovered the zpBootstrap theme (http://www.vincentbourganel.fr/news/zpbootstrap-a-responsive-theme-zenphoto-zenpage) by Vincent Bourganel which does seem to offer scrolling via swiping. This theme looks very nice in some ways but it lacks Exif info and doesn't seem to fit the iPhone screen properly in horizontal orientation. Also, the swipe option only seems to work for the 5 images on the home screen, not for normal albums. However, it shows what is possible.

I've read many good things about Zenphoto so I decided to install it today and try it out.

I'm exploring the possibilities of various themes and extensions; one thing which I have not yet found an easy way to implement is touch gestures - for example, swiping to scroll through an album on an iPad.

There was one thread a few months back (http://www.zenphoto.org/support/topic.php?id=11296#post-65285) which gave some hints abou how to modify a theme by coding in some references to jquery-mobile, but I was hoping to find a ready-made solution. There were also a couple of threads where the question was raised, but it did not seem that any developments were imminent:
http://www.zenphoto.org/support/topic.php?id=48143#post-109029
http://www.zenphoto.org/support/topic.php?id=40263#post-100443

I've looked at the zpMobile and zpSkeleton themes, but neither seems to include support for touch gestures out of the box.

There is also a very nice recent site in the showcase (http://peterhoehsl.com/) which implements swiping for scrolling, but on close examination it seems that this uses the Galleria script to achieve this.

Am I missing some obvious solution here, or is control via touch gestures just not part of Zenphoto right now?

You could use the rights management and/or password protected albums. But of course Zenphoto can only protect all that goes through it.

You could also rename the /albums folder and move it outside the root of your server.

But if you really want to separate them the best is to have independent installations. htaccess is the best protection since it is on server level.

If your server supports symlinks you could use the cloneZenphoto plugin to run two installatations with one core.

I've been using ZenPhoto for a public gallery and now would like to use private galleries for family photos. I'd prefer to place the family photos in an .htaccess protected directory and to use a second installation of ZenPhoto in the .htaccess protected directory and create an entirely new MqSQL database for the new installation.

I'm thinking this is the easiest way for me to have a private gallery and would avoid any possibility of causing problems with my main public gallery.

Is this an acceptable way to accomplish this?

Thanks

I have no knowledge about an NAS. If it is a server matching the requirements I see no reason why not.

So, do you know if i can install zenphoto on the Netgear RedayNAS 2100? The NAS should be the storage for the pictures and if i can install zenphoto directly on the NAS it would be perfect... any idea?

Zenphoto is file system based and therefore can only manage images on the same server. So what you wish to do would require syncing. Here is a diagram how Zenphoto works.

Sorry, I have no link to symlinks at hand, I would have to search myself. Try google which often finds things better than the forum search itself.

I mean for example a group of users should have the login to the zenphoto webaccess and they want to upload some pictures. If they click on (in german Hochladen/Bilder) or Upload/Images and then "upload to" they can only choose "/". So i think they can onlye upload files on the same machine where zenphoto is installed, isn`t it?

I am looking for a program like zenphot but i need the function that the users can upload files to an other storage in the same network.

Could you give me a link to symlinks. I found nothing about that :(

thank you

If you mean managing images on a different server than Zenphoto that is not possible. You could try to use symlinks maybe. I think on the forum that was discussed somewhere.

If you mean how to transfer the site or the images to another server:
http://www.zenphoto.org/news/how-to-move-my-installation-to-a-new-server-
http://www.zenphoto.org/news/how-to-move-my-installation-on-the-same-server-

Hi all,

i would like to use zenphoto together with xampp apache webserver. I installed xampp an the latest version of zenphoto. Now i would like to save or upload the pics to an other pc (in my case a NAS from Netgear ReadyNAS 2100) and not on the local machine where xampp and zenphoto is running. Could you explain me if this works an how it works?

Thanks a lot
