When I try to set a text field, after I hit apply in the admin screen, the field goes blank and I am unable to store anything in it.

    Gallery Title
    Gallery Description
    Website Title

I did a full delete (except albums and cache) and ran setup and it is still doing the same.

How about basic info like server details, Zenphoto version and any errors in the server error log?

That means your file/folder permissions are not set correctly. Setup should have reported something. Also see the troubleshooting about the recommended settings.

Since I created the new database, all appeard fine, until I tried changeing the album thumbnail (to random). Once I hit apply, the album name disappears.

If i type in a new name for the album and hit apply, the field goes blank. I tried this with 2 other albums and the same thing happens.

I even tried the original problem of renaming my gallery. It seems that every time I attempt to change a text field I loose it.

When i do a database restore all is fine, that is until I change a text field then It starts all over again.

When I make a new album by adding a folder, the folder name appears fine.

I am running the default theme (same happens with any theme) with zenphoto version 1.4.3-BETA [10311] (Official build).

So what release is this? Note that some of the errors are 3rd party theme related (I feel dirty) which may cause the others (be sure to use the latest version of that theme as VIncent actually updates them frequently). Please try an official theme.

I deleted my error log, and set my theme to Garland. I then installed 1.4.3-BETA [10315] (Official build).

There were no error log created, so there were no errors.

I attempted to change the name of my gallery in the Options-Gallery screen and again once I typed a new gallery name and hit apply, the entire gallery title disappeared.

A restore of the database gave me my gallery title back.

In connection with the other topic I fear it might be something with your server/host. Please post some details about that. Maybe completely what setup reports.

could there be some type of "No Write access" to my database?

I am able to add albums and sub albums and they all appear on my site, so I dont think that is it.

Setup does check your MySQL rights. Did it note anything? Also there should be a MySQL log. Anything in it?

The errors listed above all come from the Zenphoto debug log, not your PHP log. Unfortunately PHP fatal errors will not get logged since the script is aborted. You need to find the server PHP error log.

Hm that is a function of the register_user plugin but you have to explicity use that page (whcih it is not in standard themes if the plugin is not enabled). Also this should not harm any backend usage like saving...

Please find the mysql log as well.

I have access to a general error log, but there was nothing in there related to my zenphoto, ust a few missing files from another folder that had been removed from a old webpage.

Please don't bump topics and re-read our forum rules. Thanks.

That we don't answer means we have no idea right now, additionally our chief developer is out of town for a few days.

got this from mu hosting company

Hello and thank you for contacting HostGator support.

We would be happy to help you. You won't be able to access the mysql log files. We do see that you currently have two databases. Additionally, we have reviewed the log files for you but don't see any errors in the log files. Is there an issue you are experiencing with mysql or a database? If you are experiencing an issue, "Would you please let us know?" We would be happy to help in any way we can. If we can be of any further assistance, please let us know. Thank you.

    Best regards,

I would suggest to try a reupload of zp-core to be sure that nothing broke on the ftp transfer. Sometimes that thappens. As said I have no idea about your issue right now.

What you experience is unique. In addition there seems to be no clues. So I fear we are unable to help.

Is it possible to make a change directly in my database ?

I can see all the tables in cpanel.

Do you know what tables and lines I would need to change?

I somehow doubt that this is a mysql issue and the changing anything directly will really help your overall issue. But sadly we did never encounter this.

nothing installed, because when I change the options in admin to random for thumbnails, I do start to see random thumbnails, It's just that I loose all the text on that admin page.

Sorry, I fear we are running out of ideas. I cannot reproduce this behaviour anywhere.

I went into the ALBUMS table via cpanel. All the values in the field named THUMB were set to NULL.

When I changed the value to 0 (zero) on a particular album, that album now has random photos as thumbnails.

I did an export of the ALBUMS table and changed all the values to 0 (zero) in the THUMB field.

Then I imported back into the ALBUMS table overwriting all data.

Now all my albums and sub albums show random thumbnails like I wanted them to.

The question now is how do I make that the default? I guess that is in the OPTIONS table.

any help what field that might be?
